A unique gaff ketch built in Holland after a Danish Baltic Trader's drawings, as a downsized version suitable for a privately-owned family yacht. Built professionally at Aalbers shipyard in 1970. Since then the boat has served well in Northern Europe, England and Baltic Sea area, last six years as a year-round yacht. The strong steel hull allows the boat to overwinter in ice. A Dickinson diesel stove and a small wooden fireplace keep the boat warm and cozy even in freezing temperatures (tested in Finland's winters). This full-keeled boat sails smoothly and steadily even in big waves, and is nice and steady when anchored. Traditional rig with red sails: a gaff mainsail, bermudan mizzen, staysail, jib, storm jib, half-winder and topsail. The boat is spacious and suitable for cruising and living aboard year-round.
Details and updates from the last years:
- LOD 12 m, LOA with bowsprit and davits 15 m. Beam 3,6 m, draught 1,8 m.
- Heavy displacement hard chine hull with a 10 mm keel plate, 8 mm keel sides and 6 mm bottom hull plating. Hull survey with thickness measurements done in 2019, no issues found.
- Hull bottom sandblasted and painted with ship-quality epoxy paint system in 2022.
- Standing and running rigging and chain plates renewed in 2019. Main mast repaired in 2025. Masts are made from douglas fir.
- Perkins 4.236M engine, works well and has been serviced regularly.
- Wheelhouse made from teak with safety glass windows and two doors. Interior walls made from pitch pine. Teak flooring.
- Hydraulic steering, variable pitch centerline propeller.
- Raymarine radar and plotter E120W installed in 2021. AIS receiver installed in 2019.
- Dickinson diesel stove with an oven installed in 2019. Small wooden fireplace installed in 2023.
- Good-sized fridge and freezer installed in 2020.
- Water heater and pressurized water system installed in 2019.
- Shore power and a fixed electricity meter.
- Portable shower with a shower tray and drain. Also a deck shower.
- Nature's Head toilet installed in 2019.
- Two leisure batteries 2 x 140 Ah, renewed in 2023.
- Liferaft for 10 people.
- Custom-made wooden swim ladder made from oak.
- Two Icom VHF radios, one fixed and one portable, plus a vintage Sailor radio set.
- Manual Dutch anchor winch and two anchors, main anchor is a 45 lbs CQR. 13 mm anchor chain.
- Standing height of +190 cm in saloon, over 200 cm in the wheelhouse.
- Currently the boat has one double bed in the bow cabin and one sofa in the saloon to sleep on. There was previously a bunk bed in the side cabin that now serves as a shower space and storage. The bunks are easy to rebuild.
- Lots of storage space under the seats and in the bilge.
- Comes with a handy rubber dinghy that's easy to lift on the davits.
